Malawi earthquake

On the 20 December 2009, a scale 6 earthquake tore through Karonga, northern Malawi.  Over 300 people were wounded and 4 killed. Around 1,000 houses collapsed and a further 2,900 houses sustained damage.

The aid organisation I was working with provided relief packages that supported 156 households in the Karonga community with maize, beans, plastic sheeting and clean drinking water. In total, the project assisted approximately 1,000 people with relief aid after the earthquake.
