The thinker’s chair

Attempting to sell everything you own can be more difficult than you might think. Whilst items like surfboards, clothing or artwork might generally be desirable for purchase by the public, there are plenty of items in our possession that probably aren’t.

“Is anyone interested in purchasing my old X-rays for example, or my holiday snaps, or study notes from work courses I undertook, or green P plates, or birthday cards, or my signed year-12 school shirt, or tax records and other personal files?”

These and other similar items remained unsold at the close of the ‘One thing you lack’ exhibition, and they were unwanted by the Salvation Army store who collected and on-sold everything else.

What remained formed the installation of a large chair. A place to sit and ponder what was gone, what remained and what it meant.
